The solar rebate in Victoria, 2026 numbers.
Every current Victorian solar rebate a homeowner can access in 2026, with the actual dollar figures. Sourced directly from Solar Victoria and the Clean Energy Regulator, verified 20 July 2026. No guessing, no stale numbers.

Roughly $2,800 in rebates, plus a $1,400 loan.
For an eligible Victorian owner-occupier installing a typical 6.6 kW residential solar system, the 2026 stack works out to approximately:
- $1,400, Solar Homes rebate (Solar Victoria, state)
- ~$1,400, Federal STC discount (Clean Energy Regulator)
- + $1,400, optional interest-free loan over 4 years (Solar Victoria)
Add a battery? Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program adds approximately $252 per usable kWh on the battery. For a typical 10 kWh install, that's another ~$2,520 off.
Income cap tightened. Battery loan closed.
Two live changes to the Vic solar rebate landscape since mid-2026 worth knowing about:
- Solar Homes income cap dropped from $210,000 to $150,000 combined household taxable income per year, effective 1 July 2026. Applications submitted after 30 June 2026 are assessed at the new cap.
- Solar Victoria's battery interest-free loan is closed to new applications. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program (from 1 July 2025) is the current path for battery incentives.
Any competitor still advertising the old $210K income cap or the $8,800 battery loan is running stale copy.

Solar rebate Victoria, common questions.
What is the solar rebate in Victoria in 2026?
Up to $1,400 through the Solar Homes program (state), plus approximately $1,400 through federal STC discount on a 6.6 kW system. Eligible homes can also take an interest-free loan of up to $1,400 from Solar Victoria. Together that's roughly $2,800 in combined rebates + $1,400 loan on a typical Vic install.
Is the Victorian solar rebate still available in 2026?
Yes. The Solar Homes solar panel rebate of up to $1,400 remains active as of July 2026. The income cap dropped to $150,000 combined per household on 1 July 2026 (from $210,000). Federal STCs continue as a separate program with no income test.
Who qualifies for the solar rebate in Victoria?
Owner-occupier of an existing home or a home under construction, combined household income under $150,000, property value under $3 million, no previous Solar Homes rebate at the address, no solar installed there in the last 10 years. Rentals qualify under a separate stream.
Can I stack the Solar Homes rebate with the federal STC discount?
Yes. Solar Homes (state) and STCs (federal) are separate programs and stack together. Your installer processes both, Solar Homes as a Solar Victoria Authorised Retailer, STCs by creating the certificates and applying the value as a point-of-sale discount.
What happened to the Victorian battery rebate?
Solar Victoria has closed the interest-free battery loan to new applications. The battery rebate ended earlier. The current federal pathway for battery incentives is the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which opened on 1 July 2025 and applies approximately $252 per usable kWh discount.
Do I need to apply for the solar rebate myself?
No. Your Solar Victoria Authorised Retailer applies on your behalf. You provide the eligibility documents (proof of income, property ownership, address history) and consent. The rebate is applied as a discount on your install invoice before you pay anything.
