How much does a 6.6 kW solar system cost in Victoria after rebates?
A worked example in Bendigo (STC Zone 3) for a household eligible for Solar Homes: a quality 6.6 kW system priced at $7,500 before discounts drops to about $5,850 after the federal STC discount of about $1,650, then to about $4,450 once the $1,400 Victorian Solar Homes rebate is applied. The same system in central Melbourne (Zone 4) gets about $1,450 in STCs, so it lands around $4,650. Add the optional interest-free loan of $1,400 (repaid at $29.17 a month over four years) brings the Bendigo upfront cost to around $3,050, and you still repay the loan. Add a 10 kWh battery and the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount takes roughly $2,520 more off at the point of sale.
