What can a Victorian home actually get right now?
Four separate government programs, and most homes qualify for more than one. Solar and hot water run through Solar Homes, batteries through a federal program, air conditioning through the state's energy upgrades discounts. Here's what each one is worth. Tap a product for the detail.
Government support available to Victorian homes, published figures
$1,450 to $1,650 off a 6.6 kW system through the federal STC discount, depending on your postcode, plus up to $1,400 through Solar Homes for eligible households
About $252 per usable kWh off through the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, roughly $3,350 on a 13.3 kWh battery. No income test, and the rate steps down on 1 January 2027
Up to $5,530 replacing ducted gas heating with ducted reverse-cycle, and $630 to $1,610 replacing a gas room heater with a split system. No income test, minimum co-payment applies
Up to $1,000 for a heat pump through Solar Homes, or up to $1,400 for eligible locally made products, for households under $150,000 combined income
