A heat pump hot water system uses the same principle as a fridge in reverse. It pulls warmth out of the air and moves it into your water tank. Running cost drops around 60-75% versus gas or old electric storage. Victorian homes get the Victorian Energy Upgrades program incentive stacked on top.

Why a heat pump

A gas or old electric-storage hot water system is one of the biggest energy costs in a Victorian home, often the second biggest after heating. A heat pump uses roughly one-third the electricity of an electric-storage unit for the same amount of hot water. Off your own solar during the day, that number gets closer to zero.
