What solar rebates can Cobram homes claim in 2026?

For eligible households, up to $1,400 off solar through Solar Homes, a matching interest-free loan, the federal STC discount, and about $252 per usable kWh off a battery. Every one of them applies in Cobram (3644) and across the Murray River, because they are state and federal programs, and the eligible discounts land on your quote as their own line.

The 3644 postcode by the numbers: 2,390 small-scale solar systems (19.6 MW), 137 small-scale batteries since batteries joined the federal scheme in July 2025, and 752 heat pump hot water systems, per Clean Energy Regulator postcode data as at 31 August 2026. Recent months are still being reported, so the latest counts will rise.

Rebates and discounts in Cobram

Is there an air conditioning rebate in Cobram?

Yes, as an upfront discount rather than a cash rebate. Cobram homes replacing an existing heater can get money off efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning through the Victorian Energy Upgrades program: government-published figures of up to $5,530 when replacing ducted gas heating and up to $1,610 when replacing a gas space heater. There's no income test, and the discount is applied by an Accredited Provider at install, so it comes off the quote. Murray River summers make the cooling half of the swap the part you'll notice first.

Rebate questions in Cobram

Quick answers for Cobram homes.

Is the solar rebate available in Cobram in 2026?

Yes. The Victorian Solar Homes rebate of up to $1,400 covers all of Victoria, including Cobram (3644) and across the Murray River. Eligible households can also add an interest-free loan of up to $1,400. On top of that, the federal STC discount has no income test: a 6.6 kW system installed in the 3644 postcode in 2026 earns 45 certificates, worth about $1,650 at around $37 a certificate. Figures checked against solar.vic.gov.au and the Clean Energy Regulator in September 2026.

How many STCs does a solar system get in Cobram?

Cobram (3644) is in STC Zone 3 under the Clean Energy Regulator's postcode table, with a zone rating of 1.382. A 6.6 kW system installed in 2026 earns 45 certificates, about $1,650 off, and a 10 kW system earns 69, about $2,550 off, at around $37 a certificate. The count is system size times zone rating times the deeming period, rounded down to whole certificates, and the dollar figure on your quote moves a little with the certificate price. Zones follow the postcode of the install address, so check yours if it isn't 3644.

Should I install solar in Cobram before 1 January 2027?

Only if you were going to install anyway. The number of STCs a system can create drops every year until the scheme ends in 2030: a 6.6 kW system in the 3644 postcode earns 45 certificates (about $1,650) if it's installed in 2026 and 36 (about $1,350) if it's installed in 2027. That's a real difference, and it still isn't a reason to rush a decision you haven't made. Get the itemised quote, check the numbers, then decide.

Are Tidy quotes shown before or after rebates?

Both. A Tidy quote lists the system price, then the federal STC discount, the Solar Homes rebate and any battery discount as their own lines, so you can see what each incentive is worth and what you actually pay. If any solar quote only shows one bottom-line number, ask for it itemised before you compare it with anything else.

Who installs Tidy solar systems?

An SAA-accredited installer from Tidy's vetted install partner network. Tidy handles the sales, the itemised quote and the customer relationship, and sorts the rebate paperwork with the install partner, who is the accredited party on your Solar Homes application and is named on your quote before you sign. The install partner does the install and sweeps up before they leave. Nobody door-knocks you: you fill in the online quiz, and we call once to book a free 30-minute phone walkthrough.

How do solar export limits work in Victoria?

Your electricity distributor sets how much solar power your home can send back to the grid. The limit depends on your address, your connection and the local network: it can be lower in constrained areas, and some networks now offer flexible limits that change with network conditions. It caps what you export, not what your panels generate for your own use. Distributor pre-approval is needed before install, and your quote confirms the export limit for your address.

What is the income limit for the Victorian solar rebate?

Combined household taxable income must be under $150,000 a year. The cap dropped from $210,000 on 1 July 2026, so older articles quoting the higher figure are out of date. The home also needs to be worth under $3 million.

Can I get the rebate if my Cobram home already has solar?

It depends on the age of your system. If your existing panels were installed more than ten years ago, you can still qualify for the Solar Homes rebate on a replacement system. Systems newer than ten years are not eligible for a second rebate.

Is there a separate inverter rebate in Cobram?

No. There's no standalone inverter rebate program in Victoria. The inverter is part of your solar system, so it's covered by the same incentives that discount the rest of the install: the federal STC discount and, for eligible households, the Solar Homes rebate of up to $1,400. If someone in Cobram is advertising a separate "inverter rebate", ask them exactly which program funds it.

Is there an air conditioning or heat pump rebate in Cobram?

Yes, as a discount for air conditioning and a rebate for heat pump hot water. Through the Victorian Energy Upgrades program, Cobram homes can get up to $5,530 off a 22.4 kW ducted reverse-cycle system that replaces ducted gas heating (up to $4,200 at 16 kW), up to $2,940 off a multi-split with a 10 kW outdoor unit that replaces ducted gas heating, and $630 to $1,610 off a 3 to 9 kW split system that replaces a gas room heater. There's no income test, and you pay a minimum co-payment per installed product of $200 including GST for a split system under 10 kW, or $1,000 including GST for a ducted system, a multi-split or a non-ducted unit of 10 kW or more. The Victorian Government has proposed raising the minimum co-payment to $3,000 including GST for all ducted systems, and for multi-splits of 10 kW or more, from 30 September 2026. Separately, the Solar Homes hot water rebate covers up to $1,000 of a heat pump hot water system (up to $1,400 for locally made products) for households earning under $150,000. Both apply statewide, including Cobram (3644).
